we arrived at home on 11.30pm yesterday.
fyuuuh... awfully tired in and out ...!
'coz we travelled by train from Shanghai to Hefei.
it took us 7 hours sitting on the train.. fyuuuhh... again !
of course we kept Crystal being as convenient as possible, including when she wanted to sleep. at the beginning she slept on my arms and thighs. later on i couldn't stand it anymore, and i put her on the seat. thank goodness ... she slept soundly still. she got a little fever and cough before leaving Jakarta, blamed us on letting her drank coconut ice few days before.
she got well once we arrived at home. while today, i got diarrhea.
i took 2 tablets of diarrhea medicine, but i didn't work out. i still went to toilet 3 times and it's getting worse.
my father-in-law asked me to drink brown-sugar-water.
put around 2 table spoons of brown sugar into a glass of hot water (around 200ml).
voila... it worked ! and for the whole nite i only went to toilet once.
today is Lin's lunar bday.
we have some bday cake .. no... no... i didn't bake for sure, it's from the bakery.
we also got a nice surprise today. a very nice surprise !!!
well ... though we have thought we would get it. tell you later on.

flight to Jakarta
on 30-Mar-07 we took night train from Hefei to Shanghai.
left hefei on 8.15pm. arrived at Shanghai the next morning on 5am.
Crystal was being nice on the way. as i learnt from Lisa, who prepared 15 gifts for her Fino on the flight; i brought a puzzle for Crystal; but no 15 gifts. lol.
so she played puzzle on the bed or wandered around on the train. she also loved to climb the bed stairs. there're 6 beds in a block. 3 on the left and 3 on the right.
luckily, we got 2 lowest level beds. otherwise, i couldn't imagine how troublesome it would be.
after arriving in Shanghai, we had some breakfast at a resto besides the railway station. actually we could take the airport bus, with only RMB 18/person. but consider our flight was on 10.10am, so we took taxi, which cost us about RMB 170.
ghosh... our flight was canceled. it's said that Jusuf Kalla was in Shanghai, on his way to Egypt (or somewhere in the middle east country). the plane would be used as back-up for him. damn !
so we were all hanging around waiting for news regarding our flight.
our flight was transfered to Singapore Airline, schedule on 00.05am the next day.
so we all went to hotel for a rest.
on 9pm, we went to the airport again.
i was told that Garuda had mistakenly booked Crystal flight on the 08.30am flight. i just needed to inform the person-in-charge during check in. so we queued. around 11.10pm, we got trouble, we couldnt check in due to Crystal was not booked at the same flight with us. those stupid persons couldnt change her flight to the same flight with us in the booking system, even she was infant, which meant she didn't need a seat.
at the end, we couldnt get into this flight.
they re-booked us for the next morning flight.
ghosh .. in the middle of the night, we returned again to the hotel.
woke up 5.30 the next morning and went to airport again.
finally, we flied with SQ on 8.30am to Singapore.
luckily, SQ services was quite nice, the seat was also more comfortable (if compared to Garuda).
Crystal also got some toy from the stewardess.
Thank God, she was not giving us any trouble during the flight.
she played puzzled, played with spoon, fork, bread jam, butter, cup, etc.
The only problem was she didn't sleep --while i was quite sleepy-- and never stopped bugging me .... hahahaa... !

persiapan mudik
ternyata bloggernya bisa dibuka lagi. jadi masih nyempetin nulis sedikit catetan.
persiapan mudik repot juga...dari pesan tiket sampai belanja oleh2.
TIKET
maklum, maunya cari tiket harga termurah. akhirnya dapat tiket discount, mesti balik dalam 14 hari. cocok banget, soalnya kerjaan kantorku dan kantor suami sama2 gak bisa ditinggal terlalu lama. kalo kerjaanku, gak bisa ditinggal karena aku kawatir gak ke-handle dg baik.
kalo suami, pertimbangannya, kalo lebih dari sekian hari (lupa berapa hari), bonusnya bisa hilang. dan bonusnya itu separoh dari gaji.
tiket discount Garuda pulang pergi Shanghai-Jakarta harganya US$500/RMB 3845 (all in, udah termasuk tax, fuel charge dan sebagainya). karena tiketnya special discount, tiket untuk Crystal (infant) bukan yang seharusnya 10% untuk anak di bawah 2 tahun, tapi kena 20% (aturan internalnya Garuda). jadi harga tiketnya si kecil mayan juga... RMB 3310 (US$430).
tiket Jakarta-Jambi juga dah dapat: Rp 338,000/adult, Rp 68,000/infant.
jadi rada tenang sekarang.
untuk Hefei-Shanghai, kita naik kereta malam. jadi bisa tidur di kereta. ada tempat tidurnya dan ber-AC. biar irit ... hehehe! kebetulan schedulenya juga pas dg jadwal terbangnya.
BELANJA OLEH2
repot juga yah kalo punya sodara sekompi. bayangi makku total ada 11 bersodara (1 orang dah meninggal) dan babe 8 bersodara (ada 1 juga yang dah meninggal). masing2 oom dan tante punya anak 3-6 orang. dan 50%-nya dah married dan punya anak 1-3 orang. kalo didaftar kira2 kayak gini statistiknya:
oom dan tante = 25 orang (termasuk pasangannya)
sepupu = 28 orang (gak termasuk pasangannya)
ponakan = 30 orang (estimasi aja..soalnya gak ada update yg pasti).
maren mertua gua belanja chinese teh (Huangshan Maofeng, Huoshan Huangya, Lu An Guapian, Longjing) nyaris total mencapai 8 kg. packingnya dalam bentuk kalengan. total 1 kardus ukuran sedang. itu pun gak semua tante/oom dapat jatah. kalo yg tinggal di luar jambi / jakarta, udh gak dijatahin .. hehehehe..! gua sendiri belanja cemilan2 khas chinese di carrefour, plus belanja sedikit baju/celana untuk ponakan, sodara dan bonyok. total 1 koper gede. hehehee...!
oh ya, untungnya bokap mertua banyak channel nih. beli chinese teanya itu nyari teman "seperjuangan" waktu di tentara kelautan dulu, yang kebetulan punya adik yang buka toko chinese teh. uuh... discountnya gila-gilaan. bayangi aja, harga normal pasaran (udah gak bisa ditawar) untuk Huangshan Maofeng adalah RMB 480/kg. nah, bokap mertua gua itu bisa beli dg harga RMB 160/kg (udah modalnya doang).
sebenarnya pusing juga, belom mikirin oleh-oleh untuk teman2 dekat, yang kayaknya udah gak muat lagi, alias mesti di-skip kayaknya...! =( soalnya masih mesti bawa koper baju dan menggendong si kecil, kalo dia gak mau jalan repot juga kan... gua dah nyari semacam tali buat gendong bayi gitu. (apa yah namanya?) biar tangan gua bisa bebas narik koper.. gak nemu euiii... adanya yang rada belibet gitu... gak ringkes. akhirnya gak jadi beli.
di samping belanja oleh2, kudu belanja baju-baju tropikal untuk si kecil, soalnya banyak baju kala summer tahun lalu dah agak kekecilan. repot juga belanja buat si kecil .. baju-baju, sepatu untuk summer belom launching di toko2. ujungnya, gua cuman dapat 1 buah rok terusan. akhirnya coba bongkar2 baju-baju tahun lalu. yah... beli di indo aja deh, solusi termudah.
repotnya lagi.. pas gua nyoba-nyoba topi buat si kecil, semua ditolak ama dia. juga sepatu, nemu satu di stok lama yang punya toko, terlalu ngepas banget, gak ada ukuran yang gedean dikit. takut gak nyaman di kaki, udah gitu, dia juga menolak, protes-protes terus pas dicobaiin ke kakinya. emang paling pusing kalo beli sepatu buat dia. solusi terbaik adalah nyari yang persis sama dg model yang dia pakai saat ini. tapi di toko gak ada yang sama persis. toko tempat gua beli tahun lalu kebetulan dah tutup, dan buka tempat mandi untuk baby.
di rumah ada beberapa pasang sepatu yang dibeliin, dia gak mau pakai. setiap kali dipakaikan ke kakinya, nangis2, ngomel dan protes, dan dilepasin sendiri ama dia. puyeeengggg...!
PASSPORT
sempat nyaris batal rencana pulang bawa anak dan suami. soalnya sempat passport suami gak diloloskan dg alasan yang gak jelas dan gak penting banget. tapi akhirnya dg bantuan sodara / oom yang di kepolisian, akhirnya jadi juga paspornya 2 bulan lalu. fyuuuh....!
SINGAPORE dan BALI
tadinya sempat mikir mampir dulu 2 hari di singapore, soalnya kebetulan gua ada customer visit ke singapore. udah nyiapin uang jaminannya segala. warga PRC yang apply visa singapore mesti bayar jaminan RMB 5100/orang, dewasa maupun anak kecil idem. eh.. pas lagi mau urus2 visa via agent, ditolak, karena katanya maknya orang asing, agent gak bisa urus visanya, mesti urus sendiri ke konsulat singapore yang di shanghai. cari info di website, katanya sih warga PRC yang mampir di singapore gak lebih dari 96 jam, bisa visa free. tapi ada syarat ini itunya, yang akhirnya males juga ngecek lebih jauh, lagian takut kalo bermasalah pas di sononya .. malah repot.
yah sutralah... akhirnya mutusin gak mampir ke singapore, tapi langsung beli tiket ke jakarta.
ternyata mau "keluar negri" itu repotnya juga minta ampun yah!
sempat nimbang mau ajak suami jalan2 ke bali, udah contact guide segala. tapi sutralah..takut si kecil gak kuat fisiknya, kecapean jalan jauh, akhirnya ditunda untuk beberapa tahun aja lagi.
GAK SABARAN
oke deh... dari segala pernak-pernik persiapan mudik di atas, gua paling gak sabaran pengen cepat2 menikmati pempek, sate padang, siomai, ayam bakar, ikan bakar, sambal terasi, sayur asem, gado-gado, martabak, bakso, ... kuetiaw/bihun goreng.... nyammm....nyamm....nyammm... ! jangan kata gua di china sini, tempat asal kuetiaw dan sodara2nya; kuetiaw, bihun goreng atau bakmi terenak tetap aja dari indo. hahahahaa!

libur posting dan libur mau pulkamp
gak tau napa, blogspot di tempatku gak bisa dibuka (baik komputer kantor maupun komputer rumah). yang kayak gini nih sering banget. periode tertentu bisa buka. terus periode tertentu... gak bisa lagi. aneh ... !
cuman bisa buka dashboard dan kirim entry, tapi gak bisa lihat hasil jadinya.
jadi libur posting dulu ah... juga libur mengunjungi blog2 teman2 ..! =(
ada satu lagi ... sekalian libur mau mudik nih.
rencananya mau pulkam, Jakarta, Depok dan Jambi ... 31 Mar-13 Apr.
langsung kebayang makanan2 enak ... paling kangen pempek nih !!!!!

Crystal always loves to play with spoon. Mama's feeding Crystal with her lunch. She said one word that I never expected she could say it, which is "again"; like this: "spoon .. give to Jingjing. Mama take one again" (pointing at the kitchen cabinet).

weird .. chicken? doggy?
This morning around 4am, suddenly Crystal woke up and cried.
Crys : get it ... get it ...
Ma : what do you want to get?
Crys : (still weeping a bit) shao zi
Ma : what? (couldn't understand clearly)
Crys : shao zi
Ma : xiao ji? (it sounds like 'xiao ji', chicken)
Crys : shao zi
Ma : ok, mama will get the chicken for you (wooden chicken)
Crys : (still crying) shao zi .. shao zi..
Ma : (listen carefully .. seems not chicken)
Ma : xiao gou? ok, mama will get the doggy for you.
Crys : shao zi...shao zi...
Ma : (think a while, aah.. remember now. go and get a spoon)
Crys : another one. another one.
Ma : ok, ok... get another one for you.
Crys : (back to sleep calmly by her hands holding 2 spoons)
Crystal likes to play with spoon. she has plastic, wooden and iron spoon. last nite before sleep, she was playing with 2 spoons. then i said to her, "let's put the spoons on the shelf, you can play it again tomorrow when you wake up. ok?" She noded.

Ma : (listen carefully .. seems not chicken)

Ma : (think a while, aah.. remember now. go and get a spoon)

Crys : (back to sleep calmly by her hands holding 2 spoons)
Crystal likes to play with spoon. she has plastic, wooden and iron spoon. last nite before sleep, she was playing with 2 spoons. then i said to her, "let's put the spoons on the shelf, you can play it again tomorrow when you wake up. ok?" She noded.

WHINING PRINCESS
Crystal now can whine more and more.
A toddler is smart. Once she knows she can get something by whining .. hah .. she will whine more and more often!
if we don't let her climb the table .. flings on the floor .. whining ..
if we don't let her play with a glass.. whining ..
if I want to go to toilet, she won't let me .. whining ..
if I want to eat my dinner, while she wants me to play with her .. whining ..
so I have to distract her, so she forgets to whine. Lol.
She always wants to do things we do. Anything! Even my glasses have to be put by her on me.. instead of wearing it by myself.
If I take her to toilet with me, she will get a wipe and said, “wipe mama's butt.” she will also try to pull up my jeans. Hahaha!
Sometimes she will pick up phone, and said, “hello. where are you?”
That's what her grandpa says every time he calls his sons.
Or she will say, “hello. who are you looking for?”
Usually I seldom forbid her doing anything she wants, coz I think it’s a learning process for her, unless doing something which has relation with fire, hot water, electricity, knife, or medicine.
Two nights ago, after repeated twice, I said to her:
Mama : Crystal, there are 5 things which are forbidden for children.
First is fire, second is hot water, third is electricity,
fourth is .. (I stopped a while, thinking what's next)
Crys : knife!
Mama : ah .. you remember. and fifth is ..?
Crys : medicine!
Last night, she climbed the tea table in the living room.
Mama : Crystal, get down, or you might fall.
Crys : (keep climbing)
Mama : Crystal, get down. If you won't listen, you have to stand on the naughty corner!
Crys : (went to naughty corner for 5 seconds, then back to climb the table again).
Mama : Get down, or mama will spank you
Crys : (ignore mama's words)
Mama : mama will spank you if you won't listen (spank her twice)
Crys : (still ignore and leaning her tummy on the table)
Mama : get down quickly.
Crys : (ignore..ignore..)
Mama : (spank twice again)
Crys : (come to mama, crying and beat mama's hand)
Mama : mama's not wrong, why do you beat mama? (beat Crystal's hand)
Crys : (lying on the cold floor and crying loud)
Mama : stand up, the floor is cold.
Crys : (still crying loud for few minutes)
Gr'pa : (come to carry her up and go to dining room)
Crystal doesn't want mama, mama is bad.
Grandpa carries you.
Crys : (stop crying)
Mama : mama said you should not climb the table. Do you understand?
Crys : (don't reply mama's word, looking at mama with angry face)
Mama : (repeated the same question)
Crys : (keep silent, still with angry face)
Mama : (cant keep smiling behind Crystal)
Gr'pa : go and pinch mama's nose, mama will not be angry anymore.
Crys : (come to mama, pinch mama's nose and smile)

people around you will think it's real one!

big and small - 20 months
Crystal is 20 months today
it's amazing if you observe how your children grow and how their intelligences develop!
and it's really amazing to find out how fast they learn something, either to sing, to count, to memorize poem, to mimic things the adult do, or anything else.
as a working mom, i always want to rush home after office hour, to be with my girl and see her grow up time to time.
Crystal begins to understand the concept of big and small.
lately she often says to herself, "Mama's big. Jing-jing's small."
if i ask about her rubber duckling, which one one is big which one is small, she can also point it out. same case with spoons or balls or anything else with different size.
Crystal sings several songs.
either 100% or only 70% of each song.
Crystal memorizes 4 poems.

with a little help on 50, 60, 70, 80, 90
Crystal says several names of vegetables / spices.

but, she often pees on her pants too.
and still wears diaper when sleeping.

but she often are so messed-up if eating by herself, so mommy prefers to feed her, let her use spoon sometimes.

Crystal says goodmorning and goodnight
now Crystal likes candy or chocolate very much and will eat unstoppingly if you let her. blame to the spring festival. all the adults (of my husband's relatives) always gave her a lot of candies during our visit, which was very difficult to refuse. i only took it away some whenever nobody saw it. usually i always keep candy out of her sight and reach. she also likes dried melon seeds (kuaci, gua zi). she will eat it all with the peel. but often she spits out the peel after some time.

Mom: (hiding behind daddy's back and
grabbing watch and glasses on the shelf)
Crys: Mama is here (saw mama already)
Mom: (couldn't help laughing) Mama will go to work
Crys: wuaaah.... wuaah.... (started to cry and crawled up)
G'pa: Mama will go to work.
Crys: Mama won't go to work. Grandpa goes to work (still crying)
Mom: (having breakfast, washing teeth)
Dad : Mama will go to work and earn some money
for buying milk and buying candy for Crystal.
G'pa: Grandpa goes to work. Mama doesn't go to work.

empathy...ribut-ribut
kemarin malam, aku ribut-ribut dg lin. masalah sepele. gara2 sebuah senter.
dan urat air mataku terlalu tipis. menangis kesal dengan Crystal dalam gendongan.
fifth grandaunt-nya si Crystal bilang, "sini, grand-aunt gendong. mama lagi nangis."
sebenarnya gak nangis gimana, cuma mata basah aja saking kesel pada suami.
Crystal memandangku dan langsung menangis dengan kencang.
aduh, cintaku, mama tak sampai hati melihatmu menangis karna melihat mama menangis.
so, aku bilang, "mama gak nangis. mama gak nangis." dan aku pun menghentikan tangisku.
dia pun berhenti menangis juga.
guess what?!
setelah itu, siang ini lin bilang semalam dia menatap lin dengan pandangan mata yang galak. seolah berkata, "jangan bikin mamaku nangis." dan dia gak mau digendong lin.
mungkin karena capek. malam ini pun aku jadi marah2 dan ribut lagi karena kesal oleh hal lain.
gimana gak capek, selama 2 hari menjelang imlek, di mana2 terdengar bunyi mercon. Crystal ketakutan sekali. jadi setiap saat merayapi badanku, minta gendong, gak mau oleh orang lain. jadi selama 5 hari ini sejak libur ngantor, otomatis pagi sampai malam, hampir selalu minta gendong atau gandeng. kadang masih bisa digendong sambil duduk, kadang setelah digendong pun dia bilang, "mama berdiri."
udah gitu, di rumah sodara di kampung, ranjang kecil 1.4m, buat tidur berempat. iparku, aku dan kedua anak kecil. mana si kecil tidurnya gak kalem lagi. sering bolak balik badan. kadang udah muter2. sering mendesak aku ke pinggiran. otomatis 2 malam aku gak terlalu tidur nyenyak.
udah gitu, mak mertuaku lagi di kamar main game di komputer. sehabis aku marah2 pada suami, dia bilang ke suami, "anakku kasian yah. dimarahi dua orang." kali ini, bokap mertua mendukungku saat aku marah2 karena kesal. mungkin aku terlalu sensi, tapi kupikir, kok nadanya menyindir yah? kesal pun jadi bertambah.
aku gak bisa menahan air mata saat menemani si kecil yang sudah mengantuk. si kecil sepertinya ngerti. gak banyak ngomong saat akan tidur. matanya terus2an menatap mataku. tangannya mengelus2 wajahku dan mataku yang berair. lalu dia pun tertidur.
mama sayang sekali padamu .. malaikat kecilku!

every chinese students know this poem. it's to let the children value their meals as every grain of it comes from the farmers' hard toil.
Crystal's pronunciation is not perfect of course. She still can't pronounce "ke/ge" (similar to k for "key" or k for "kunci").

guan = close (she will say 'puan')
gege = big brother (she will say 'dede')
gugu = auntie (she will say 'dudu')

poetry reading (1) IN THE QUIET NIGHT 静夜思
Crystal is 1 year 7 month 1 week today
Smarty could memorize around 4~5 poems from the Tang Dinasty. i only knew (memorize) 1 poem. so i read this poem several times to Crystal on Tuesday nite, before bed time. and explain the meaning to her in kid language. this is the only one chinese poem i could remember by heart.
静夜思 (李白)

疑是地上霜
举头望明月
低头思故乡
There are 7 translations for this poem. among them, below translation is what i like the most. though i still think it's a little bit awkward anyway. such kind of poem if translated, cannot represent the original version in Chinese. though i'm not very fluent in Chinese language, i still could feel the beauty in the above poem when reading in original Chinese version.

2 hal baik hari ini
naik gaji
naik gaji lagi euy.. kali ini 10.5%.
lagi2 gak nyangka, aku kira gak secepat ini yah. soalnya bulan juni kemaren baru naik. seneng sih, siapa yang gak seneng coba ? tapi juga gak senang2 banget. cenderung biasa.
why?
2 minggu lalu sempat ngobrol2 sama orang finance soal naik gaji dan apa yang dicari di dunia kerja.
kayaknya setelah punya anak, kita-kita merasa gak terlalu pengen ngejar karir. bahkan gaji naiknya sedikit atau gak dikasih naik gaji juga gak terlalu masalah, si orang keuangan di tempatku ini juga punya pikiran yang sama. dia juga puas-puas aja dengan penghasilannya sendiri. toh suaminya berpenghasilan cukup tinggi dan bekerja untuk "bumn" di china sini.
intinya biasa2 aja, penghasilan (yang mungkin) tetap. kalo perusahaan gak terkena ancaman tutup. dan dapat menikmati hidup secara sederhana dan bahagia. cukup kayaknya.
aku sendiri cukup puas dengan penghasilanku saat ini. soalnya mengingat betapa susahnya awal2 nyari kerja di sini. gaji di perush pertama, lebih kecil dibanding fresh graduate di jakarta. gaji perush kedua, malah lebih kecil lagi. baru sekarang ini .. aku cukup puas (soalnya udah ngalami pahitnya..huehehe..! jadi mesti disyukuri!)
yah gitu deh. senang sekaligus juga biasa-biasa aja.
padahal gak lama ini masih kepikiran pengen karir meningkat, pengen gaji meningkat. mungkin juga sekarang berasa biasa-biasa aja, siapa tau beberapa bulan kemudian, eeeh, tabiat ambisius nongol lagi.. huehehe!

hari ini Lin dapat promosi ke divisi yang lebih baik. kalo dengan posisi sekarang, nyaris gak ada peluang peningkatan karir. di tempat mereka, kalo dah kepala tiga, sudah mulai tanda-tanda kemandegan di karir.
bedanya, sebelumnya dia mengepalai 20 orang (dari 4 shift). sekarang dia jadi gak punya bawahan, tapi bekerja dalam team. nah lho!
bedanya lagi, orang-orang di team ini punya kesempatan promosi yang besar. sebelumnya, kemungkinan dia akan tetap di posisinya sampai 10-15 tahun. lalu digantikan orang lain, balik lagi jadi maintenance engineer biasa, tinggal nunggu pensiun.
biarpun promosi, dari segi gaji, gak ada peningkatan. aku senang, tapi malah dia yang biasa-biasa aja. padahal sebelumnya dia juga ikut proses seleksi untuk masuk team ini. tapi yang kepilih orang lain. dan dia ditempatkan pada posisi yang sekarang. dia kecewa sekali waktu itu. sekarang, tanpa proses seleksi, eh dia malah biasa aja.
lagi2 soal berubah pikiran. dia cukup enjoy dengan posisi sekarang, karena cukup bebas. dengan posisi baru, akan lebih repot dan akan sering dinas atau kadang sering tugas tengah malam kalo ada maintenance project.
kadang memang gitu. ketika kita menginginkan sesuatu, gak mendapatkan dan jadi kecewa. saat sudah mendapatkan malah jadi biasa-biasa aja. padahal mestinya disyukuri yah?!
jadi yah, aku tentunya sangat dan tetap bersyukur atas semua kebaikan Tuhan yang tiada henti!
naik gaji lagi euy.. kali ini 10.5%.
lagi2 gak nyangka, aku kira gak secepat ini yah. soalnya bulan juni kemaren baru naik. seneng sih, siapa yang gak seneng coba ? tapi juga gak senang2 banget. cenderung biasa.

2 minggu lalu sempat ngobrol2 sama orang finance soal naik gaji dan apa yang dicari di dunia kerja.
kayaknya setelah punya anak, kita-kita merasa gak terlalu pengen ngejar karir. bahkan gaji naiknya sedikit atau gak dikasih naik gaji juga gak terlalu masalah, si orang keuangan di tempatku ini juga punya pikiran yang sama. dia juga puas-puas aja dengan penghasilannya sendiri. toh suaminya berpenghasilan cukup tinggi dan bekerja untuk "bumn" di china sini.
intinya biasa2 aja, penghasilan (yang mungkin) tetap. kalo perusahaan gak terkena ancaman tutup. dan dapat menikmati hidup secara sederhana dan bahagia. cukup kayaknya.
aku sendiri cukup puas dengan penghasilanku saat ini. soalnya mengingat betapa susahnya awal2 nyari kerja di sini. gaji di perush pertama, lebih kecil dibanding fresh graduate di jakarta. gaji perush kedua, malah lebih kecil lagi. baru sekarang ini .. aku cukup puas (soalnya udah ngalami pahitnya..huehehe..! jadi mesti disyukuri!)
yah gitu deh. senang sekaligus juga biasa-biasa aja.
padahal gak lama ini masih kepikiran pengen karir meningkat, pengen gaji meningkat. mungkin juga sekarang berasa biasa-biasa aja, siapa tau beberapa bulan kemudian, eeeh, tabiat ambisius nongol lagi.. huehehe!

Smarty got flu again ... and the following impact to Crystal
oh boy... Smarty got flu and cough again these few days.
so it's unavoidable for Crystal (just as most of the time).
after returned home last nite around 11.30pm .. from dinner with our CEO and Asia Pacific VP, i found out that Crystal got a flu by her breath. she was sleeping.
and on around 3am, she woke up for a short time, saying: "snot. snot." (she likes to repeat a sentence or a word she says). then i wiped her snot. only several seconds, she complained again: "snot. snot. eeehh... " i wiped it again and said, "mama has wiped it. now you can sleep again."
My in-laws took Smarty to visit an old 'Chinese doctor/herbalist doctor' (zhong yi 中医，in Indonesia people know it as 'shin shei'). The doctor is around 70 years old and owns his own herbal store. He sometimes goes abroad to cure his patients. Smarty went back with a herbal bandage tied on his feet.
Usually if Crystal gets a flu, i give her a kind of chinese medicine, of very light one made of herb, with red sugar taste, so she wants to drink it. if we ask, "Jing-jing, what are you drinking?" she says, "ban lan gen".

thoughtful lill girl
Thoughtful
Crystal is such a thoughtful lill girl. Since few months ago, i noticed that everytime for example her head strucked my face or somewhere else, and i said, "aiyooleee.. you strucked mama's face. it hurts." she would quickly turn over and use her little fingers to touch my face and do a little massage.
Saturday nite when i fed her some fruit soup, she bumped into my arm so the soup was poured onto my jacket. i said, "you look at it .. mama's jacket is now wet. don't bump mama's arm again, sit nicely and have this fruit." she stood up, walked into the dining table, got a wipe paper and then came to wipe my jacket.
how thoughtful this lill girl is, is she?
another same case i notice she would do:
put on the plastic into the trash bin whenever she sees us taking away the garbage;
take shoes out for me from the cabinet when i get home (and also for her dearest grand-aunt)
take (empty) potty and shoes for her cousin when he wakes up from his nap (if she has awaken from her nap)

if she pees in the potty, she will bring the potty by herself to toilet, pour it into toilet, get some water to rinse it, wipe the edge of it with toilet paper, then put the potty on the usual place. of course i would help her on the part when she brings it to toilet and when she rinses it (she copies what i do everytime she pees in the potty, and insists to do by herself).
deliver bowl, chopstick or glass to kitchen.
pick up a used toothpick (if she found one) and deliver to trash bin (her grandpa/ma often put used toothpick anywhere instead of putting it straightly into trash bin).
if my glasses drop from my nose, she will fix the position with her fingers.
probably these all make her feel important..hahaha... !
sometimes while having dinner, she would call her daddy, "papa.. chi fan!" (daddy, have dinner!)
several times i asked her question like: "do you love mama?" she would answer: "love mama" (intentionally i asked about everyone except her uncle, then she would say by herself, "love uncle")
i often teach her to ask other people to have dinner (in case somebody hasn't come to the dining table). i also teach her to greet good morning, good nite whenever she is going to sleep or just waking up. she could also know how to reply when somebody says 'xie xie, Jing-jing!' (thank you) to her, she will say, "bu yong xie" (no need to thank)
Ooh...oooh...!
if there is some certain thing she cannot express in words, she would say, "ooh...oooh...!?" with puzzled eyes and face, sometimes pointing with her forefinger. just like Sunday nite, grandma took a piece of plastic rope and tide grandpa's plant in the living room. she felt that there was something unusual, she looked at the plant and said, "ooh..ooh...oooh!"
we all agreed that it ain't look good that way. i taught her to say that it ain't look good. and she followed me by saying, "bu hao kan!" so now if we ask her, "Jing-jing, does it look good?" she will not say 'ooh...ooh...' with puzzling face anymore

in Hefei, during winter the lowest temperature is around -7 centigrade. only several apartment blocks have heating system. normally we have AC in the house. but we seldom turn it on, coz to be honest i myself don't like it, it makes the skin dry and uncomfortable for our throat. so usually we wear more cloth at home or outside.

Crystal is 1 year 6 months 3 days old today.
i often read books for Cyrstal before bed time. or sometimes she looks at the pictures by herself and i ask her questions.
there is one content like this:

this afternoon i fed her a 'lu-gan' orange (jeruk lokam) in our bedroom. i asked her to put the orange peel into the trash bin. she went out to the living room and said by herself :

few days ago, i asked my mother-in-law where Crystal's moisturizer cream was. Crystal was sitting on a stool in living room, drinking her milk and watching TV. out of our expectation, she came to our bedroom, holding her bottle with one hand, and the other hand pointed at the shelf telling us,
"it is here. it is here."
not only i was surprised, also her daddy, grandpa and grandma. it's the joy that you would get when your toddler starts to talk more and more.
the other day, i was looking for her milk-bottle-straw, but couldn't find it. then i asked her, "Jing-jing where is your straw?". She was drinking milk with her bottle, there was another straw in it. She's pointing at the bottle and said, "it's in here." and this one surprised me 'coz i found out that she understood the word: in
two days ago, she wanted to change her shoes. she brought her red shoes to me, saying , "wear big red shoes." actually the shoes are a bit bigger, i often hide it, not let her wear it. but sometimes she just could find them. if i dont change for her, she will cry insistedly. so i change for her.
later on i went to balcony to put some laundry on the clothsline. she went following me bringing her pair of orange winter shoes and said, "dry for a while..dry for a while.."
i never taught her these words (to dry something in the sun). she must have heard either one of us saying it.
another day, her grandma told me that she tested Crystal by asking, "what's grandpa doing?" she answered, "grandpa's reading a newspaper." and as usual her grandma feels surprised!
usually if i play with Crystal and at the same time seeing her grandpa is reading a newspaper, i will tell Crystal what her grandpa is doing.
if you want your toddler to speak more, talk more to her/him. it enlarges her vocab. and you will feel surprised and also you will feel the joy!

little mouse ate an orange
Crystal was sick this evening after nap time, 39.4 centigrade! we took her to doctor. her high fever was ceased down after having some medicine. she's got a throat infection.
her grandma blamed me for letting her catch a cold this the morning while she woke up. saying that i didn't put her cloth on immediately. actually it wasn't really cold this morning. actually i thought the most reason was she was having an orange two days ago. during winter we shouldn't have too much oranges (not chinese 'lokam'/ 'lu gan' orange. lokam orange is ok, you can have as much as you like).
there was another story behind it. Smarty likes to beat Crystal on her head with his hand. if he beats her, Crystal will say, "bu yao da mei mei. bu yao da mei mei." (don't beat little sister). and then Crystal will run to her grandma or grand-aunt, saying, "grandma carry me up. grandma carry me up." Smarty will chase her of course.
on friday, grandma had used an orange to attract Crystal to our bedroom in order to separate Crystal from Smarty for a while. Crystal followed her. after giving her a slice of orange, granda went to kitchen and left the orange on our computer desk.
when grandma came back to the bedroom, the orange wasn't there. grandma looked under the table and the bed, but couldn't find it. finally grandma found out the orange peel in the living room trash bin; noticed that Crystal had eaten up the whole orange and threw the orange skin into the trash bin.
at her age of 12 months or so, Crystal could differ which things could be thrown into the trash bin. her grandpa often puts after-used toothpick everywhere, sometimes on the living room table, sometimes on the phone table. if Crystal sees it, she will take it and throw it into the trash bin.
oh yes, Lin often plays with Crystal and Smarty by letting them throw the orange skin bit by bit into the trash bin. so these two toddlers will walk back and forth like busy bees, taking the orange skin from Lin's hands and throw into trash bin.
it's very funny thing also yesterday when i took away the plastic bag from the trash bin in our living room. and put it outside to be delivered later on to the big trash bin on the first floor. Crystal then took an empty plastic bag from the living room table drawer and put into the trash bin. how cute!
we usually use water from cloth washing to flush toilet. now everytime after pee, Crystal wants to flush the toilet by herself. of course i should assist her to avoid her cloth and shoes getting wet.

it's always the sweetest time for me when i see you smilingly come to me and call me mama as i open our front door and come in. do you love it as then i hug and kiss you .. as i always love to do it?
that's the most reason i always wanna be home as soonest as office hour is over. that's also why i seldom go shopping or often refuse dinner invitation from friends as much as possible.

to the country side (3~4 Oct 2006)
i always wait for the chance to take Crystal to the country side or to the nature. during Chinese National Holidays (1-7 Oct), on 3rd and 4th Oct, we went to the country side to visit my mom-in-law's mom, who at this moment lives at her 4th daughter's house.
I believed Crystal enjoyed her time there. this was her third time going to the country side. she was very happy to see ducks, cow, dogs, chickens, cats. saying, "mama .. take my hand", she held my hand and chased chickens on the front yards. of course the chickens were afraid of her, and ran for their lifes... =)
she also put her finger for the duck after seeing me doing it. and immediately pull back her finger when the duck bit her. but then she put her finger again for the ducks. or ask me to put my fingers to the ducks, saying "mama bite...mama bite..." (means: "mama, let the duck bite your finger")
she also liked a lot to play with the hand-water-pump. since she could never pump out any water, she always called me to pump for her. then she would wash her hands under the water flow.
other things she liked to do was going in and out the bedroom, climbing up and down the stairs, playing with vegetable basket, playing with hay broom, or playing horsey at mama's back.
when i found a small caterpillar, i picked it up and handled to her. she brought the caterpillar with her thumb and forefinger and showed to her grandma enthusiastically. too bad we didnt have chance to show Crystal's father, who was sooooo afraid of caterpillar, bcoz her grandma immediately stepped on the poor caterpillar once it dropped to the ground.
i also took her to a small pond nearby the house. seeing some plants, trees, wild flowers, and cow's poop on the way to the pond. =) her daddy threw a stone into the water. she immediately tried to do the same, but the stone fell into her back. i had to help her throwing the stone into the water and she giggled happily.
during the time we stayed there, she almost never left my side. she always asked me all the time to take her hands and walked around with her. even it was hard time for me to go to toilet. ;-P she would cry all the time, "mama...carry me up... mama.. carry me up..." or she would cry if she didnt see me around.
sure i am very happy to know that i am her highest preference.

15 months old
Crystal is 15 months old today.
83 cm height
below are her 14 month's development :
most improvements are especially in verbal side. there are a lot of words and several simple sentences she can say now. some motoric improvement are such as: climbing a chair or bed more steadily or more quickly. when driving the scooter, she can make a turn quickly and easily.
she also now can eat by herself using a spoon. however, with me still holding the bowl for her, coz she surely cannot hold the ceramic bowl (heavy and worry she would drop it). the bowl should be hold right below her chin in front of her chest, since she eats porridge with is more liquid and she still cannot well control her hand movement.

most improvements are especially in verbal side. there are a lot of words and several simple sentences she can say now. some motoric improvement are such as: climbing a chair or bed more steadily or more quickly. when driving the scooter, she can make a turn quickly and easily.
she also now can eat by herself using a spoon. however, with me still holding the bowl for her, coz she surely cannot hold the ceramic bowl (heavy and worry she would drop it). the bowl should be hold right below her chin in front of her chest, since she eats porridge with is more liquid and she still cannot well control her hand movement.

our lill smarty
14 mo 4 weeks
Crystal's grandma told me this after dinner: "Cyrstal's got the brain."
this afternoon, Crystal and Smarty were playing at our main bedroom. there's a computer there. they were clicking the CPU, keyboard, mouse, wanting to climb up the bed or chair, unloading things from the cabinet, etc. So grandma said to Smarty and Crystal, "ok kids, let's get out from here and let's go and play at the next bedroom."
So Smarty and Crystal went out. Smarty went to the living room, while Crystal went to the next bedroom.
Yes, basically, we can communicate easily with Crystal. i can say that she can understand everything we tell her or ask her to do, she also can give responses by answering our questions with some simple words that she can say.
I do hope our Crystal is an intelligent kid. Which parents don't?
another progress she made this week was that she could now count completely from 1 to 10. if we ask what our house phone number is, she would say, 55667788 ... hahaha... almost a correct answer.

i really enjoyed my weekend with Crystal. she can walk steadily now. she almost never falls, unless her bro pushes her. so i'm fully protective if her cousin is around.
she accompanied me when i was busy tidy up out the house. sometimes busy with things on her hands she was mumbling by herself, "yeni..mama..yeni .. mama.." sometimes she would come to me whiningly, "mama bao..mama bao.." (mama, carry me up) or held my hand and walked to anywhere she liked around the house. or sit on a stool in the toilet, watching me washing the cloth.
we went out in Saturday afternoon. there is a licensed store for 2008 olympic mascot. She kissed the big version doll FUWA JINGJING; which she has the tiny version. i bought for her especially 'coz her name is Jing Jing 晶晶 (means Crystal)
there are 5 dolls, call FU WA; fu 福 = good fortune. wa 娃 = kid. the name of the mascots are fuwa Beibei, Jingjing, Huanhuan, Yingying, Nini. BEIJING HUANYING NI 北京欢迎你 = Beijing Welcomes You.
This morning, Crystal woke up and looked at our wedding picture hanging above the bed, saying, "papa..mama...papa...mama...". i said, "there are flowers on daddy's hand, count it ... Crystal." She started to count, "yi er san .. wu liu qi ba jiu shi" (usually she skips the 'four', that i have to remind her and counts faster from 5 to 10). around 2 months ago she could recognize the numbers, but could not say it.
i always love to be around her.
i think i need her much more than she needs me =)

We were playing near dining table. Crytal looked at me and say, 'ba-ba..' and slapping her butt. i quickly carried her for poop. mostly now she can say 'ba-ba' when she wants to poop, or say 'niao-niao' when she wants to pee. but sometimes she also says 'ba-ba' when she wants to pee.

after lunch, Smarty's mom and dad were lying on the living room floor, sleepy. it's quite a hot summer day!
Crystal and I were winding around living room, bedrooms .. here and there. Smarty was following us everywhere we went. Until then Smarty grabbed an empty plastic chocolate bottle from Crystal's, actually he had one in his hands, coz i gave one each to both of them. of course Crystal wouldnt let him do it. so they were vying for it. i released Crystal's hand coz i knew it would hurt her hand!
after having the bottle, Smarty hit it to Crystal's head, and i quickly covered Crystal's head with my hand (we're sitting on the floor). my sis-in-law said, " Smarty, do not beat mei-mei." (mei-mei = little sister)
Smarty grabbed another toy also hit to Crystal's head, my hand still covered her head. then i carried Crystal, stood up. Smarty took another toy, throwing towards us. when he failed, he spat! oh boy.... ! and during that moment, my in-laws including my father-in-law just watching it and said nothing about it! they really had over spoiled the boy!
i went to bedroom where my mom-in-laws and husband were taking nap. Smarty's following us, and still throwing things to us. i went out. he's following again. at that time, his hand was holding other thing, i said to him, "if you dare throw it to me, i will spank you 3 times." he hesitated for a while, then threw it low to my leg. i spanked him 3 times, not so hard, in front of my in-laws. he spat. and i said, "if you spit again, i will spank you 3 more times." and he spat! and his parents again said nothing!
i went to bedroom and closed the door. he was crying and howling in the living room, wanted to follow us. since he was angry, throwing things in the living room, his grandpa asked him to beat his dad. and his dad said, "beat me Smarty, beat me. even you beat me to death, i will not beat you." oh boy ...!!!!
after 5 minutes, he didnt stop, i went out again with Crystal and he stopped crying. but then he started kicking his mom's legs. his mom just let him do it without saying anything and his grandpa was laughing on it.
how a kid behaves, depends on how the adults treat him, especially parents and or grandparents. here in china, mostly grandparents take care of kid while the parents go to work. so often a kid is spoiled by his/her grandparents.
in my opinion, if a kid is over naughty, sometimes you have to spank him, otherwise he will be out of control, especially after he grows up. and when either of you spank your kid, the other shouldn't laugh or stand on his side.
Crytal always played with the electric fan, turn it on, turn it off, turn it on..off.. once Lin beat her hand hard and she cried. after that, she almost never played with electric fan anymore.
just last week, when we were in the train, Echo (my colleague) couldn't sleep during the journey, got annoyed by a 3-year-old boy; i said to her the next day, "i never feel annoyed by any kid". this time i really feel annoyed. but i think mostly not bcoz of Smarty, but bcoz of his parents and grandpa.

i am a true lill chomper
Crystal's cousin (Chong-chong, means 'Smarty') is quite a naughty lill boy somehow. he always robs anything (except food) in Crystal's hands, either a toy or a book. and not only that! sometimes he wants to beat Crystal with hand or with toys in his hand.
when i am at home, Crystal often takes my hand and together we will see some posters of animals, abc (and singing the song), fruit, etc. everytime Smarty will follow us (bcoz i like to ask him play together), but then he will stand in front of Crystal, pushing her away and hampering her from seeing the poster by spreading his legs and arms.
the same thing happened tonite and .. suddenly Smarty cried loud! i thought Crystal had scratched him. my sis-in-law came and found some biting marks on Smarty's left arm. oh ghosh, Crystal bit Smarty! it was so quick that i didnt see it at all! later on, the same thing almost happened again several times. since i was already aware about this, Smarty's arm was safe from Crystal's quick movement. i wonder, how a 13-month-old toddler could do it, nobody taught her! it's instinct i guess.. since Smarty annoyed her all the time, maybe it has reached the limit of her patience. hahaha...!but if Smarty doesn't annoy or push her, if we put Smarty's hand in front of her mouth, she won't bite it, she smiles & turns her head away.
Crystal's grandma and grandpa said, "well, at school nobody will be bad to her in the future. she knows how to protect herself."
