i waved goodbye to Qiqi this morning.
and she raised her hands to "wave" to me too.

we've been teaching her for about 2 weeks or so.

seneng juga deh .. !

kata atasan, mau naikin gaji lagi. tapi belom tau berapa. dia katanya mau diskusi dulu dg personalia. orang personalia yg ngurusin gaji lagi cuti melahirkan. ntar gua bakal kasih tau dalam waktu dekat. dia nanya gaji gua berapa, gua salah nyebut, beda seratus yuan. hihi.. dasar pikun!

terus dia nanya terakhir naik gaji kapan, gua juga salah. gua bilangnya Juni-2007. dia bilang, hmm.. dah setahun yah. memang sudah saatnya. taunya terakhir naik gaji tuh Feb-2007. malah yang lebih ingat tuh suami dan bu mertua.

terus terang gua gak terlalu musingi atau gak terlalu ambisius soal duit. tapi tetap aja senang dong gaji dinaikin. hehe!

first performance

This morning Crystal's kindergarten held an art performance to celebrate children day (1-Jun).
Crystal's day-care class performed a dance. Actually she got a slight fever last night. But she was ok this morning. So we let her go to her day-care for make-up.

parents were not allowed to interact with their kids before the performance. the teachers worried it might affect the kids' emotions.

It's amazing to see those lill kids in Crystal's class could perform well on the stage. There are all around 2.5-3.5 years old.

olympic torch in hefei

the olympic torch relay extended its journey in Hefei (capital of Anhui Province) this morning.
it was very near to my office. but i didn't join the crowded mass to watch this ceremony. it was tooooo crowded i guess. some roads were already blocked since 3 am.

i went to office this morning by taxi via some alternative road to avoid traffic jam.
our company bus was trapped in the traffic jam. i didnt go with company bus coz Crystal insisted me taking her to daycare.

tomorrow the torch would go to Huainan. my husband was there for part of his training schedule.

Qiqi 6 Bulan --- fase rakus

Qiqi kayaknya lagi dalam fase "rakus". atau emang dasar "tukang makan" kali yah ..

yang jelas lebih 'rakus' dari cicinya di umur yang sama. makanya lebih bohay dibanding cicinya. betisnya kayak betis pesepak bola..hehehehe... pendek dan ndut. kata mamaku, kayaknya ntar Qiqi gak bakal terlalu tinggi posturnya.

setiap orang yg gendong dia dicurigai megang makanan, langsung antusias banget, megang kuat2 tangan-yg-dicurigai-megang-makanan dan langsung diarahkan ke mulutnya. kalo misal kita minum atau makan sesuatu, dia juga langsung menjatuhkan badannya ke arah kita buat nyergap. hihihi..

dulu pernah diisengi ama neneknya, kulit jeruk dilambai2in depan matanya, mulutnya langsung menganga...hihihihi... orang2 dewasa memang usil yah nak... termasuk mamamu juga.

Qiqi udah bisa mengambil barang kecil (misal secuil biskuit) dari telapak tangan orang lain. tapi belum bisa dimasukin ke mulutnya dengan jitu.

kalo barang2 gede, apapun kalo dah diraih, langsung masuk mulut, termasuk jari kaki tangannya sendiri. kayaknya sih semua bayi melewati fase ini.

Sekarang juga dah bisa pegang botol susu dan masukin ke mulut sendiri.

Qiqi itu doyannya senyum atau ketawa. jadi kalo dipanggil sama orang, terus dia lihat.. langsung pasang senyum. manis dan nggemesin banget deh!

awal2 pas papanya dinas keluar kota 12-an hari, dia gak mau digendong papanya. tapi sekarang, kalo papanya pulang dinas beberapa hari.. dia udah mau. udah "kenal" dan bahkan udah kasih senyum.

dulu pas pertama-tama baru pulang dari indo (umur 2.5 bulan), dia juga mau digendong sama papanya. gua udah cemas aja... mau gak yah digendong ama papanya saat dijemput. kalo gak mau, gua bisa teler di perjalanan =) tapi kadang agak2 rewel dikit juga sih selama perjalanan ke hefei.

sampai saat ini kata orang2 yg ngelihat baik langsung maupun liat fotonya doang .. Qiqi itu kayak cowok. mungkin karena rambutnya masih pendek, terus ndutnya itu. walaupun gak ndut2 banget juga sih.

"my dearest baby, if you could survive, remember I love you so much."
And the mother died. The baby was found sleeping soundly.


A husband protect his wife below his own body;
told his wife to take good care of their child.
In order to survive, the wife cut her own injured thigh and
drank from her own blood. And she survived.

A teacher (Tan Qianqiu) who could have saved himself .. chose to save 4 elementary students by hiding these students below a teaching-wooden-podium.
His teenage daughter was strong enough to accept this reality. and below is picture of his wife (Zhang Guangrong) cried for his husband.

beside picture was a 20-year-old dancing teacher who covered her students below her own body.

Among many survivors was a kindergarten student. She said she sang whenever she felt afraid. And she survived.

Many police, army, fire fighters, doctors, nurses, volunteers, worked days and nights to find possible survivors below collapse buildings.


.. many kids have lost their parents .. and many parents have lost their kids.

Qiqi 5.5 months

know the day

Since end of last month, Crystal began to know the concept of day.
Often when wakes up, she will ask like this: Mama, today is Wednesday, right?
she seldom makes mistake on which day today is.
She knows exactly that on Saturday and Sunday, her mom doesn't have to go to work.

these two days she doesn't require teacher Li to feed her anymore.
actually she could eat by herself. but she just wants Ms. Li to feed her.
once Ms. Li was taking marital leave, she didn't want other teacher to feed her and she ate by herself. she said, "If Ms. Li isn't here, i will eat by myself. if Ms. Li comes, i want her to feed me."

nyoblos kotak minuman

Pernah ngalami sedotan gak bisa buat nyoblosin minuman kotak yang kita beli?

Tekuk sedotan dekat bagian akhir, bagian tekukan dipakai buat nyoblos.
kelemahannya, bila kualitas sedotan kurang bagus, di bagian tekukan bisa bocor (robek).
Makanya jangan menekuk di bagian tengah2.

atau kalo mau cara tarzan..coblos sedikit dengan kuku atau gigit.

tortoise -- beibei

i've just bought a tortoise for 25 yuan on 29-April-08. it's about my palm size. i've been wanted it for 3 years.

my mom-in-law named it bei-bei; from bei-ke (shell). it also sounds like "baby" or "babe". =)

it wanders around every corner of the house. often i have to look for it anywhere .. below the couch, bed, freezer, bathroom, etc. till now i still dont know what kind of tortoise it is.

labor day holiday

we got labor day holiday, 1-3 May 2008.
and have to get back to work on Sunday (*yes.. Sunday*).

Sunday is youth day, so those who are 18-28 years old will have another half day holiday.
surely i am out of this group, so cannot enjoy this privilege ! :P

did nothing special, only stayed at home with my girls.
on Saturday .. had lunch together with those who had given ampao/hongbao for Qiqi's birth.

in some location in China, there are many occasions that we may need to spend some money for a kid of our relatives or close friends, even could be more than 3 times for the same kid.
* a newborn baby (meet/see the baby for the first time)
* first time visit to the house where there is a kid (baby or toddler)
* first time visit of the kid to the relative's house
* 1st birthday of the kid (if we come to the ceremony)
* 10th birthday of the kid

for newborn, as parents, after receiving the hongbao (money), in return and as a politeness, we will (have) to invite those who have spent money for a lunch in a restaurant or at home.

lin will have to be out of town again tomorrow for about 1 week.

this evening after dinner, Crystal said, "i should not over-eat. otherwise my belly (*rubbed her belly*) will be round like a ball."

Qiqi is much easier to take care of now. she could lie on the bed for 1.5 to 2 hours, as long as somebody is playing with her. love her more and more .. she is sooo cute! (*all parents will think this way about their own kids*)
these few days, she will laugh happily if i say, " daddy is so so so big .. qiqi is so so so so small.. sister is so so so big .. "
or if i play pick-a-boo with her, she will laugh or giggle happily.

there are many new songs or nursery rhymes Crystal learns from her day-care. she often sings at home. and i enjoy singing along with her.

Crystal always needed help when counting from 20 - 100. after the 9s, we needed to tell her 30,40, etc. then she continued with 31, 32 .. etc.
i printed out a table of numbers from 1 to 100 two weeks ago to let her get the idea. Crystal likes to look at it and count from 1 till 100. now she can count (without looking at the table) from 1 to 100, unless at 29 to 30. she often counts 21, 22 ... 29, 20. so we need to remind her for "30".
